Create and edit images just by describing them — the agent proposes, you keep or discard
With an image provider connected, you can create and edit images by chatting — no photo shoot or design tool required.
Connect an image provider first
Image generation runs on a connected provider. A Google Gemini key powers Nano Banana image generation, which you connect during setup — see onboarding. Once a provider is connected, the AI rail appears in the Library and in the section you're working on.
Generate an image from a prompt
Describe what you want and Atelier creates it. For Fernway Botanical Studio you might ask for "a sunlit shelf of trailing pothos in terracotta pots." The new image lands in your Library and drops into the section you're working on, ready to preview.
Edit an existing image in plain language
Point the agent at an image and describe the change — for example:
- "make it warmer"
- "remove the background"
- "crop to a square"
Atelier produces a new image from your request. It never overwrites the original, so you can keep both and compare. If you prefer the edited version, use Replace original with this to swap it in.
Where generated images are saved
A generated or edited image is saved to your Library the moment it's ready — as a new item, opened in the editor for you to review. This is deliberate, and it's different from how the agent edits pages or your brand.
Image generation runs on your connected provider and costs real money each time. So instead of holding the result somewhere temporary that a refresh or a wrong turn could wipe out, Atelier keeps what you paid to create. You'll never lose an image to a stray click.
Saved to your Library is not the same as live on your site. A Library image is private to your console. It reaches visitors only when you place it on a page and click Publish — the same guarantee that applies everywhere in Atelier.
It's still your decision, not the agent's
Saving the image to your Library doesn't take the choice away from you. You stay in control:
- Nothing is ever overwritten. Every generation and every edit is a new item. The agent doesn't touch, replace, or delete anything you already have.
- Keep it, or don't. Review the result in the editor. Keep it, ask for another variation, or click Delete to discard it — deleting a freshly generated image is safe and removes it completely.
- Swap it in only if you choose. For an edit, Replace original with this repoints the original — and only when you press it.
Tip
Iterate freely. Because every edit makes a new image instead of replacing the last one, you can try "warmer," then "brighter," then go back — nothing is lost, and nothing you don't want sticks around.
